Our client is a leading supplier of laboratory chemicals, standards, reagents, consumables and instrumentation across many sectors in Ireland. Theyspecialise in a large range of products & scientific equipment for R&D, life sciences, quality control, process measurement & environmental monitoring across the Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices research, Food and Beverage, Chemical industries and Education Sectors. They are currently seeking an Area Business Manager to grow their business across a range of areas within their already strong client base.


  • Maintaining and increasing sales and profit of our clients products
  • Generate sales for a portfolio of accounts and reach the company's sales target
  • Identify new sales opportunities within existing accounts to remain a client-account manager relationship byup-sellingandcross-selling
  • Maintaining and expanding your customer base
  • Maintaining high service levels with existing customers
  • Increasing business opportunities through various routes to market
  • Tender management
  • Develop value added services
  • Manage and solve issues/conflicts with clients
  • Interact and coordinate with the sales specialists and all staff members working on the same account
  • Establish budgets with the client and company
  • Meet time deadlines for accounts

The following attributes are essential to the role of Area Business Manager:

  • BSc with 5+ years sales experience in general Life Science products across a range of industries – Pharma, Med Device, Universities, Schools etc.
  • Willingness to undertake training and continuing professional development
  • Experience in account management
  • Ability to proficiently use industry standard IT systems (e.g. Microsoft Office, Email, Internet, etc)
  • Ability to cope with pressure and to work to strict deadlines
  • Ability to prioritise workload, with excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and use initiative
  • Ability to manage, facilitate and chair meetings
  • Ability to form and maintain good working relationship
  • Proven ability in communication and negotiation
  • To be entrepreneurial
  • Ability to demonstrate commitment to our clients corporate values
  • Prepared to travel independently with occasional overnight stays
  • Knowledge of financial procedures (processing invoices, recording budget expenditure)
