Business Development Executive
This position concerns developing business, be it in a start-up or established business. The role is not an out-and-out sales role, but involves aspects of marketing, branding and raising the awareness of the company. Often a more consultative role that a Field Sales position. Excellent communications skills, as well as a technical background and the desire to travel are normally high on the priority list.
The Business Development Executive is responsible for conducting sales activity throughout Europe and the US.
Responsibilities

Developing and supporting direct and partner sales activity

Prospecting as part of your regular routine, ensuring new prospects are being added to the sales funnel on an ongoing basis

Building and managing a quantifiable sales pipeline

To develop and maintain an accurate forecast of opportunities substantiated by accurate notes and planned follow up actions

Meeting and exceeding set sales quotas

Managing a complex, enterprise solution sale with a 6 - 12 month purchasing cycle

Moving the sale through the entire sales process actively engaging other company resources as necessary to ensure success

Being well informed about current industry trends. Effectively using sales tools to record all sales information

Attending and participating in sales meetings, live demonstrations, product seminars and trade shows

Preparing written presentations, reports and price quotations

Independently driving contract negotiations
Person Specification

The successful candidate will ideally have a proven track record in Sales (complex solution
-
software sales industries is desirable)

Must have strong understanding of enterprise software sales cycles and dealing with key decision makers

Ability to manage a pipeline of 50+ accounts at any given time

Strong presentation skills and will be expected to arrange and give on site customer presentations at a high frequency

Proven success prospecting, building a pipeline, moving opportunities through the sales cycle; proposing, presenting and discussing solutions with decision-makers

Ability to craft a solution with appropriate products and services that meets business goals based on client discussions

Working knowledge of web and database technology

Higher level qualification (degree or higher) in life sciences or biomedical science essential
