Technical Sales Specialist (PhD – Cell Biology)

Our client specializes in products to support Life Science Research. Their comprehensive portfolio includes assays & instruments to help researchers solve problems in cell biology, drug discovery and development, human identification, cancer research and many other areas of research.

They are seeking a PhD qualified Sales Specialist, ideally with some previous sales experience, within the life science field, to join a growing team in Ireland. Reporting to the Sales Manager – Ireland, the main focus of this person shall be to grow our clients portfolio, particularly across the academic and R&D industries within Ireland.

The individual should be able to demonstrate drive, to meet or exceed sales targets, be self-driven as well as a capable, dynamic team player. They should be organised with excellent time management, communication skills and be highly customer focused. In addition, they should be well versed in office-based computer packages (especially Excel) with previous experience of using and reporting on CRM and revenue data.

You shall be located in Dublin/Leinster region and happy to cover all areas of Ireland, as required. Our client places strong emphasis on building highly collaborative relationships with customers so excellent communication and relationship building skills are key.

This is a field-based role with the expectation of 80% time on the road & 20% time at home office.

Role/ Responsibilities:

  • A professional sales role to develop sales within Key Academic, Biotech, and Government accounts in Ireland.
  • Selling an extensive range of highly innovative life science products and customized solutions to researchers in established, well supported accounts.
  • Confidence in current technologies for cell biology; DNA, RNA, protein analysis is essential.
  • Excellent territory analysis, planning and reporting skills to optimize territory performance.
  • Identifying new business opportunities, including new clients and new partnerships
  • Build, execute and deliver strategic goals for the territory.
  • Dedicated to always delivering a high level of personal service to customers.
  • Communicate internally using existing tools and methods.
  • Maintain a customer relationship management (CRM) database for customers in the territory.
  • Build revenue budgets for key accounts
  • Stay abreast on market intel arising from assigned accounts.
  • Work cohesively with our Inside Sales Specialists to create a dedicated customer support team.
  • Continue collaborative customer interactions and build awareness of our client portfolio in all accounts.
  • Continue technical learning of products as they come to market.
  • Prospect and map new customers while identifying relevant customers for new product launches.
Education/Experience:
  • Essential: PhD in Life Sciences (cell biology/cancer research preferably) or a life science degree with at least 3 or more years’ experience
  • Desirable: PhD in Life Science with at least 1 years’ sales experience.
  • Essential: Full, clean driving license
  • The successful person shall be self-motivated, determined, and personable.
  • Highly organized, structured; skilled at managing time effectively and able to deliver under pressure.
  • Capable of learning and communicating features and benefits of highly innovative products to customers
  • Able to listen, respond to customer needs, be flexible and keen to take on challenges
